Why Obama Should Give a Vote for LinkedIn
U.S. Jobs grew by 155,000 in December 2012, keeping the nation’s unemployment rate from growing above its status 7.8% earlier in the year. LinkedIn reported 3q2012earnings, primarily by recruiter subscriptions increased 81% Y-Y from 3Q2011. Recruiters, Hiring Managers and CEOs of small businesses combined account for almost half of the LinkedIn audience. Is LinkedIn the new Monster.com? Hiring trends seem that way.
LinkedIn is the ultimate talent source for Hiring Directors. Why? Recruiter’s and hiring manager’s can find qualified candidates by Profile and in Groups easily. The candidate’s profile, Group associations and activity on LinkedIn alone can help a Hiring Manager assess the qualification of a candidate before even the interview. LinkedIn offers also several paid Talent Solutions subscriptions so that Recruiters and recruiting organizations can directly post related ads to targeted candidates. The subscription levels allow Hiring Managers to view profiles by location, industry, experience and more. With an advanced Talent subscription, LinkedIn allows these recruiters to get direct LinkedIn references for candidates, making the LinkedIn hiring experience complete.
For candidates and job-seekers, LinkedIn provides direct access (follow) to desired companies through the Company Search function. The new beefed up Company Profiles on LinkedIn allow companies to list out all related products and services, provide hiring updates, list jobs and provide status updates on company growth and expansion. Candidates can directly Inmail Hiring Managers and influencers within the organization with paid Sales subscriptions offered by LinkedIn. Further, Job seekers can research companies and those who influence hiring power directly on LinkedIn. Finally, candidates can review who is connected to Hiring Managers. If the candidate finds a person in common, the job seeker can directly reach out for a warm introduction to a Hiring Manager.
For all the reasons listed above, LinkedIn is becoming the one-stop shop for both recruiters and for job seekers alike. An Obama vote for LinkedIn, in my opinion, makes sense in helping to ease the pain of a troubled economy. Also, in that LinkedIn is a global B2B social network, serving over 200 countries and growing, international leaders should also consider how to use their LinkedIn counterparts to aid in the betterment of their economies as well.
