Social Selling is Changing Rapidly. Microsoft and LinkedIn Buy Out and More.

Earlier this week, I was honored to become a speaker with ConnectRoot, which I hope will allow me to connect with a lot more executives and B2B marketing and sales organizations and those who want to better understand Social Selling, Social Branding, Personal Branding, the business case for SEO, how to stand out online, and more.

Interestingly, the same day that the ConnectRoot information was announced was the day that Microsoft acquired LinkedIn for $26.2 billion. I won’t go deeply into that acquisition here because there are a million different viewpoints on it all over the Internet right now, although I was quoted in this Search Engine Journal article about what it means for both sides.

I say it’s ‘interesting’ that I became part of ConnectRoot on the same day LinkedIn became part of Microsoft because one of the core ways I work with businesses and entrepreneurs is helping them get the most out of LinkedIn. I’ve been a little bit critical of LinkedIn in the last year because of some user experience issues and purchases they made that didn’t seem to fit; I even explained some of my frustrations on LinkedIn.

The fact is, social selling will change — and how we think about and best use LinkedIn will change, too — as the social network becomes a more integrated part of Microsoft. I’ll be here to help you figure out your plan of attack relative to your business’ value proposition.

At the same time as all these changes in the digital marketing and social space, we’re undergoing some changes too. I recently moved into new offices in NYC, and we’re redoing the Agent-cy website to focus on our own core values. I’ve got a good team of people around me and am excited to do some big things for digital clients in the second half of 2016 and beyond. In other exciting news: I’ll be doing the ClickZ Live San Francisco event in late August as the moderator of the social media track. I can’t wait. Stay tuned for more info. (It’s only mid-June right now.)
I hope your 2016 is going well, and if there’s any way I can help with anything in terms of digital marketing, social media, social selling, branding or anything else — don’t hesitate to let me know.
